|FOIL GALLERY is pleased to announce an exhibition
of Yokoo Kaoru gOnaoshitokah from 18th to 30th May, 2011.
After graduated from Bunka Fashion College, Knitwear Design course,
Kaoru Yokoo worked on manually made part at a designerŐs atelier.
Since 2005, she established her own studio in Kichijyoji and has
actively working on ŇalteringÓ worn-out clothes by embroidery
Her ŇalteringÓ technique is not making something be restored and
look what they used to be. Stains are decorated with embroidery
motif and frayed threads become a part of fringe. From a worm-eaten
hole of knitwear, lovely creature shows its face.
In this transformation by her altering clothes - from old and
worn-out things to something new, not only the adorable appearance,
but we can also see there are full of affection towards ŇgoodsÓ.
In such era of throwaway principle, we will be able to reconsider
the way of our consumer society by touching YokooŐs beloved object.
In this exhibition, many works including her works of ŇalteredÓ
goods, some presents Yokoo has ever gave to her family and friends,
original drawing she submitted for her serial articles in magazines
will be on view. During the exhibition period, Yokoo will stay
at gallery to produce new works.
